Surgical Abortion Procedure in Bangalore – Explained by Experts

There are a few different types of abortion procedures typically carried out by an MTP Certified Hospital in Bangalore, as recommended by WHO (The World Health Organization) for safe abortion procedures.  The most common procedures are medical abortion or the abortion pill, or surgical abortion.

There are also a few different types of surgical abortion procedures.

Vacuum abortion

If you decide to have an abortion in your first trimester and your health professional may opt for a vacuum abortion rather than a medical abortion. The gynecologist may need help to dilate your cervix first, and this will be done by using medication. This will help to open your cervix to allow the medical tools in.

Once your cervix has expanded enough and you are ready to have the procedure, you will lie on a comfortable examination couch with support for your feet and legs. You may be given a sedative. Your health professional will then insert a slender medical tool that is known as a speculum into your vagina, which helps to keep your cervix and vagina gently open.

The health professional will then clean your vagina area and inject an anesthetic into your cervix to numb the area. Your health professional will then insert a small tube that is attached to a suction device. This will then gently clear out the contents of your uterus. The procedure will only take a few minutes from the start to when they are finished. After the procedure, you will be monitored to ensure you are well and that the surgical abortion procedure was successful.

Dilation and Evacuation (D&E)

If you are more than 12 weeks pregnant, you will most likely need a D&E. As in the case of the vacuum abortion, they will need to dilate your cervix to allow the medical tools to enter without damaging your cervix. The health professional will clean the cervix area and use an anesthetic to numb the cervix area.

The main difference between the vacuum abortion and the D&E is that they will use a curette, or forceps, rather than the vacuum to clear out the contents of the uterus. The curette may be used to scrape the inside of the uterus to ensure the contents are loosened. The health professional may finish off with a vacuum or suction to remove the contents fully for the uterus. The procedure usually takes 10 -20 minutes, but they will monitor you afterwards to ensure you are well and to make the procedure was effective.

After your procedure

As part of a CAC (Comprehensive Abortion Care) procedure at a reputed MTP Certified Abortion Clinic in Bangalore India, for either procedure you will be monitored for about 30 minutes afterwards and monitored closely to ensure you are safe and well. Once the sedation has worn off, you will be allowed to leave.

You way have some cramping and light bleeding for a few days after your procedure. You may be required to have a follow up call with your health care provider within a few weeks after your procedure to ensure you are well looked after and that your surgical abortion in Bangalore was a success.
